Parliament: 128 vote for, 74 against 2016 Budget

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 128 Members of Parliament today voted in favour of the Supply Bill (2016) or 2016 Budget, with 74 voting against it. 

All the 128 votes came from Barisan Nasional MPs, while the 74 consisted of members of the Opposition. Thirty of those who voted against were from PKR, with DAP members making up the rest. 

Seven MPs including Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang (Pas-Marang) abstained from voting while another five did not turn up, including Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Gelang Patah) who is serving a six-month suspension. 

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was present at the Dewan Rakyat tonight cast his vote for the 2016 Budget. 

The winding up for the Budget started last week when all ministers had answered questions on their relevant ministries posed on the Budget, announced by Najib on Oct 23. 

The bill will next be brought to the House Committee for further deliberation before it is read for third reading and passed by the Dewan Rakyat.
